Late Antique Mosaic from a Public Building

A picture of the eternal life cycle

Multicoloured floor mosaics once decorated the presentable hall, the vestibule and the porticos of the public building, located next to the southern fortress wall of the ancient city of Augusta Trayana.

With an exceptional variety of geometric shapes, plant elements and birds is  presented the idea of the seasons and the eternal life cycle. The mosaic dates back from the end of 4th century.
As an archeological site, the mosaic is skillfully inscribed in the interior of the modern building of the Post Office.
